SelectBoard Minutes - September 1, 2009

In attendance: Vernal Stone, Marc McKee, Rita French, Paul Betters, Gene
Craft, Debra Kingsbury

Meeting called to order at 7:00 pm by Vern Stone, Chairman

Vern asked Paul Betters (Road Foreman) if he had anything to report:

Road Salt contract to be part of the state group purchase from Cargill Salt
Co. had been executed and sent to Barrett Trucking for 09-10 use.

Paul informed the board that the town packer truck is presently in
Hooksett NH at a repair shop to diagnose and repair the shifting
transmission electronics as needed to make the trash truck dependable as the
transmission problem has been intermittent for quite some time. Northeast
Waste services has been contacted and will send a truck with driver for this
Wednesday?s, 9/2, usual trash route and Syd will assist. Paul expected the
trash route to be done and on its way back to the landfill prior to noon.

When the town packer truck has been out of service in the past, this was the
solution and Paul followed for this instance as well.

Mowing on the sides of the roads is in progress.

Verna Erwin had expressed to a Select Board member to her pleasure at
the recent grading on Vershire Center Road.

Ruth Payne had contacted the Select Board prior to the meeting
inquiring about the ditch condition above her driveway on Durgin Hill Road.
Paul will look in to it this week.

Paul has graded to the end of Durgin Hill Road now by the
Wakefieldproperty and has finished to the end of MacIver Rd.

Vern asked that Paul take a look at Rowell Rd and see if it could be
graded as one of the residents there has recently assisted with some side
road brush clearing.

Paul asked to what extent the Select Board wanted Taylor Valley Rd
graded due to the ledge outcroppings. He will keep picking away at trying to
grade it and may have to add some material.

Marc pointed out that the Highway Dept would probably have to remain at its
present location for sometime and discussion ensued about installing a
drilled well there. Marc will contact three area well installers for
estimates and report back at the next meeting.

Vern moved that the minutes from August 18th be approved. All were in favor.

Gene reported that he has spent additional time working on the NEMRC
accounting modules and itemizing deductions. Some employees have asked for
direct deposit of their checks and he is setting that up at present.

The Select Board reviewed the bids for trucking sand for 09-10. Marc made
the motion to accept the bid from Duane Ash at $3.25 per yard. All were in
favor. Vern will contact Mr. Ash. Gene will write up a letter for
contractual confirmation of same.

Gene Craft as Town Treasurer discussed with the board two items that he
would like to make payment on: the bank note for the credit line that covers
the town while waiting for anticipated tax monies and the annual payment on
the new mowing tractor that will be due this month.

Marc spoke to Jack Kruse at the Mountain School about getting a clean-up
crew together for a work session at the cemetery by the school and the
student workforce will be going there in the next few weeks.

Discussion about the new parking lots at the Mangala Shri Bhuti property
and the potential for the Agency of Natural Resources to review, additional
items of concern about the visitors to that property. Marc suggested that
the board invite two of the present residents in to further discuss the
recent happenings. Marc will contact them to see if they can attend the next
meeting.

The board reviewed and signed the orders.

The board reviewed several applications that had been submitted for the
advertised highway road crew position.

Marc moved to adjourn at 8:12pm. All were in favor.
