Vershire Selectboard minutes from June 1st, 2010 approved
Attending: Vernal Stone (Chair), Marc McKee, Debra Kingsbury, Alan Lyford
This session was a continuance from the May 25th meeting as the Board determined that an executive session was needed for the standard 90 day review of Highway Foreman, Alan Lyford. Lyford started working for the town on November 2, 2009. The Board went in to executive session with Lyford at 7:37 and returned at 8:04pm. McKee stated that the Board gave Lyford a high recommendation and noted that the review was four months overdue. They approved an increase in Lyford’s pay rate of fifty cents per hour retroactive to February 1st, 2010 and an additional increase of twenty five cents per hour effective from June 1st, 2010. Lyford’s next review will be June 1st, 2011.
Discussion followed about Highway Road Crew, Tim Farrar, and his designation as a full time permanent employee effective June 1st, 2010 and stated his next review will be on December 1st, 2010. Lyford will fill out the employment review evaluation form for Farrar’s file, meet with Farrar for review and get his signature acknowledging the review, prior to putting in the town’s employee files. The Board would like to recognize that these two experienced and knowledgeable professionals are causing savings and taking safety measures with improved maintenance resulting in less wear and tear on the town’s equipment.
Lyford wanted to update the Board on needed culvert cleaning and repairs and that he had recently ordered two more pallets of calcium chloride.
