Well, we survived Irene and all our roads are pretty much back to the way they were pre-Irene (in some cases, even better). Thanks to Alan Lyford (Road Foreman) and Rob Lefevre, (dedicated Road Crewman) and to all the local contractors who jumped on the wagon and got it done. The local contractors who helped were:

Excavation Unlimited (Malcolm Ward & crew)
Farrar & Son Trucking (Tim Farrar)
Jon's Trucking (Jon Beebe)
J.L. Smith Trucking (John, Kyle & Mark Smith)
Thrasher Construction (Gary Thrasher & crew)
Ward's Excavation & Concrete (Tim Ward & Harold Ward)

Eagle Hollow Road
8/29/2011 ->

All Vershire Roads are Open:
All roads are currently open but a few remain rough to navigate. Until we are visited by the FEMA and other state damage assessment officials, the roads that received the heaviest damage will remain
rough. Please bear with our road crew as they work through the repair process and also, please slow down. The roughest are Eagle Hollow and Eastman Crossroad; avoid traveling those roads if you can.

Beanville Road in West Fairlee will remain closed for the foreseeable future but Miller Pond Road in Strafford is now open once again.

If you need information on other (main)roads in Vermont, you can call 511, the automated hotline for road information or go to Vermont Road Closures - to find what state roads are closed.

You can also call ahead to other town clerk offices (if they have power) for information about the town you are headed to.

For more on road closures and other information you can also go to www.vpr.net.- and look for the State resource links at the top of the page.

If you have flood debris to dispose of the Hartford Transfer Station is accepting flood damaged items. Click here for the text of an email from John Hurd at the G.U.V.S.W.M.D.
(Excerpt below from email by Susan-Hatch Davis on August 29)

"The first step to acquiring recovery aid is to take a statewide inventory of the damage. Vermont businesses, municipalities and individuals should call 211 to report property damages. If repairs are made by a property owner, it is important to document the repairs and keep receipts for potential assistance."

If you are someone you know could use a hand cleaning up, Mountain School students are gearing up and are volunteering to do whatever they can to help out! Give the Mountain School or Kathy Hook a call to set something up. MTN School - 685-4520, K. Hook 685-4353
